Planners’ comments
We hope that you enjoyed the courses that we put on at Parham.  The numbers attending (134 starts) were a surprise to us, given that several of our regular orienteers were away in Portugal on one of Chris Jepson’s ‘O’ Tours.  We are sorry that requests for additional maps had to be declined and it proved a correct decision as we used all the maps that we had brought with us.
Michael originally visited Parham Woods at the end of November on a beautiful sunny day and marked up a selection of control sites.  William then took these and produced the courses that you did.  Parham is quite a mixture – open fields, clear woodland, areas with brashings and of course all those ditches – we had not realised how many we had used.
The weather although blustery, made this an enjoyable place to run. Comments received were favourable despite the rather physical last leg on Blue.  The location of start and finish meant that we had a good view of runners coming into finish.  Both blue and green courses went around the edge of the heronry which was out of bounds.  Thank you for respecting this without the need of a control to force you to.  Orange proved to be the hardest to plan, but judging by the results all but one got around the course successfully.  We hope the tapes proved useful between the 3rd and 4th controls.  
And now a plea.  The event is a long day for the computer team (Peter and Jaquie) and the planners so it would be appreciated if members could do their best to arrive at the start before 11am and to remember that courses close at 12.30pm. 
Many thanks to Kieran and family for dealing with the parking (over 80 cars), Dave McTurk for registration, Mike Gammon for map production, Peter and Jaquie for computing, and Andrius Jasiunas and the Young family for control collection.
Finally thanks to Parham estate and Mr Edwards for letting us use the woods – an area that the public are not normally allowed in.
