Planner's comments. Hungarians seem to be more progressive when it comes to trying new types of orienteering. Two of the events we encountered on our trip to Hungary last year were Mobile Phone-O and Micro-sprint. We thought that they were good fun so we decided to inflict these two new disciplines on our fellow Southdowners, the first of which took place on midsummer's day. Those who took part in the mobile-O at Tilgate seemed to enjoy it and judging by the animated discussions after I think it would be worth putting on another event. The map was not ideal as it was an enlarged section of the park printed at 1:5000. It lacked the detail that would normally be on a park-o map (benches, distinctive trees etc.) All of the control sites were on easy linear features, however it is what happens between the controls that matters - a good rapport with your partner is essential as both giving accurate directions and giving feedback from the runner to the navigator are needed. Things that we take for granted in normal orienteering i.e.. you can look at your surroundings and relate them to the map, are not quite so easy when this has to be communicated verbally. Vince Joyce
